The result is an estimate built from four factors you enter: number of employees, annual revenue, industry, and estimated downtime days.
The calculation adds up four items: downtime (your daily revenue — annual revenue divided by 250 business days — multiplied by the downtime days); remediation (at least $15,000, or $1,500 per employee if that's higher); legal and Law 25 obligations (a flat amount based on your revenue bracket, from $15,000 to $120,000); and client churn (4% of annual revenue). The sum is then multiplied by an industry factor, from 1 for professional services to 1.35 for finance and insurance — the most regulated and most targeted industries.
Worked example: professional services, 25 employees, $1M to $5M revenue ($3M used), 5 downtime days. Downtime: $3M ÷ 250 × 5 = $60,000. Remediation: max(15,000, 25 × 1,500) = $37,500. Legal obligations: $30,000 ($1M-$5M bracket). Client churn: $3M × 4% = $120,000. Total: $247,500 before the industry factor, which is 1 here — so $247,500, rounded to the nearest thousand. The range shown runs from 70% to 135% of that amount.
